TG: Hi @Definians , we’re so stoked to have @KBeau | Atmos , CEO of Atmos, join us today for the 11th episode of the Defina Fam series!! I personally work with their team and it’s been an amazing experience constantly learning from their amazing team members like Dariusz, Andrew, Richard, and of course Kevin leading from the front.
So before we get started, how are you doing today?
KBeau: I’m doing well! Thanks for asking. Stoked to be here hanging with you.
TG: glad to hear that! Our community is very interested in learning about you and Atmos aha. Let’s jump straight into it.
For our first question, can you tell us your journey of how you got into crypto to where you are now as CEO of Atmos?
KBeau: That’s a long story, but it goes something like this. I played minor pro Ice Hockey for a year after school and then decided to go get a job as a software engineer…
I have made this joke more times than I can count… but I am probably the only guy that has traded web development to the sports team he played for in exchange for better equipment.
Not long after that I discovered Bitcoin, started mining, and eventually became the technical co-founder of an early blockchain payment processor called GoCoin (2013). I’ve been in the blockchain space in various capacities since then. I founded an early NFT marketplace called AUX and also worked as a principal engineer on Vesper. Atmos was initially based on a paper I wrote and stashed away back in 2019 hypothesizing what I now call Metaverse-Native Sports.
TG: haha love it! Seems like you always had that entrepreneur spirit even in high school trading web dev for equipment leading to all those amazing experiences with your blockchain ventures. So crazy you thought of it for the past 3 years too.
So curious, can you tell us more about what kind of game Atmos is and what makes you excited about it?
KBeau: That wasnt high school — that was the pro team I played for after college! but yeah I have always had the itch to be an entrepreneur.
KBeau: Atmos is a world that we will inhabit with multiple games. However, our first game is a flight based racing game called ExoGP. You take on the role of an Exo (Exoskeleton Suit) Pilot and compete to win.
I’m excited on so many fronts — firstly — I love a good racing game. Second, these suits — which are the core gamepiece for everything on Atmos — are spectacular. They are designed like cars — extremely modular with lots of customization options. Third — We have a focus on spectacle and watchability, so being able to participate as a fan is an area we are very passionate about.
We have also developed an incredible backstory and have a companion comic series. I could go all day answering this one…
TG: oop my bad thanks for clarifying! so dope you had that pro experience which definitely ties into the E-sports features you’ve planned for Atmos whether that be competitive racing, spectating, crafting equipment, etc. like you mentioned.
and yeah a lot of people were taken by surprise by how high quality the first comic drop was! definitely can’t wait to explore more of the Atmosian lore.
So what’s your medium-term vision of Atmos in the next 5 months? How about long-term in the next 5 years?
KBeau: In the next 5 months we have a lot planned, but the major milestone is to get the first playable version of ExoGP into the hands of our community. We are also releasing the second and third issues of our comic series (Chapter 02 coming in January).
In 5 years, I want people to watch ExoGP like they watch Formula 1. We have a lot to do between now and then.
TG: oo so excited about the first playable ExoGP! Can’t wait to compete with and against other community members aha. Maybe our Definians can create their own guild in the guild.
Could def see that happening with the popularity of Twitch streamers and etc. Your guys’ emphasis on E-sports will definitely help with that.
Something our community(zorro4ever22) was curious about was your plan for the bear market. What will the Atmos team do if the bear market lasts another 1–2 years?
KBeau: You never control the market. We focus on what we can control and build. I’ve been through multiple bear markets in this space — trying to predict when they will end is a less effective use of time than continuing to build incredible stuff.
TG: appreciate your insight! So true that it can be tempting to focus on controlling things that we can’t like conditions, token price, etc instead of focusing on what truly matters like building a great product, cultivating a community, etc.
Think that’ll lead perfectly into this next question! What do you believe is the best way to lead a team as CEO? Which area of improvement do you feel the Atmos team can benefit from the most?
KBeau: Another one that I could probably talk about for a while!
I am a big believer that everyone at any level should be a leader, and ultimately my job is to make sure that everyone knows the mission and has everything they need to in order to complete it. If everyone understands the mission, then everyone can make decisions effectively to get us there. At Atmos, we have an extremely talented team committed to getting better as a group every day.
TG: love your empowering mindset! The Atmos team is definitely stackedddd.
Another thing our community was interested in was the game’s accessibility. How will you cater to the growing mobile and browser-based gamer audience with your triple-A game?
KBeau: For the first release of ExoGP, we are focused on a PC release. However, other parts of the Atmos experience will be available on web and mobile, and we have additional games and mini-games planned that target those devices.

Shorune asks: love the art! any plan to go for multi blockchain? if yes on what blockchains?
KBeau: We are evaluating several EVM compatible chains. We will announce which chain we will adopt next in Q1.
TG: looking forward to seeing which one it’ll be aha.
Keilo asks: Will we see sponsoring in the game? Like OKX in F1?
KBeau: easy. yes.
TG: Aris asks: Could these 2 gears co-exist? For example can I play the game wearing a “Sacred Waste” Helm with the Genesis MKIV ? Also if I have more than one Help of a different Team, can I play and be a member of more than one Team ? Thanks.
KBeau: We haven’t talked about the Helm drop this week yet, but: We are doing a limited edition “MKIV Prototype Helm” release later this week. 64 Unique Helms from each of the ExoGP D1 teams.
These helms are compatible with the MKIV suit (so the answer to the Q is ‘yes’) but this trim will never be released again. There are only and will only ever be 512 of them.
TG: sooo hyped for the reveal and to be able to rock those in game aha
Lone Wolf asks: it seems they have a really big map laying ahead of them my question would be, comic development and game development kinda of requires two teams of talents, big team of talents. With such high bar sent, how will you juggle between these two directions with the resources on hand
KBeau: Carefully. We have an incredible team and are committed to a really high quality bar. I have full confidence in my team’s ability to execute.

Are there any exciting features or events coming up for Atmos that our community members should know about?
KBeau: We are doing an ultra-limited edition drop of 512 Prototype Exo Helms this Thursday, December 15th. There are two phases to the release — the first phase has a max supply of 1 per account, and is only open to MKIV Datacard holders (note — giveaway winners from this AMA will receive them before the snapshot, so they will be in the whitelist for phase 1).
